I just love this song! As I listen to it I think of all of you, my sisters in Christ. Keep holding on! We will finish this race together, and we will be in Heaven forever! I love you so much :)

Don't Settle For One Direction

Have you ever had a discussion with your friends about boys? I know all of you have nodded your head yes :) Has the name “One Direction” come up? I bet it has. This group has captured thousands of girls hearts with their music, good looks, and goofy smiles. When they first came out, I will admit I was a HUGE fan! I loved their music and the cute way they acted in front of the cameras. But recently I have noticed a change at the heart of their songs. They no longer are remarking about the beauty of their loved one, but of how “sexy” she is. A quote from one of their most recent songs “Kiss You” really broke my heart. These are the words, “I just want to show you off to all of my friends, making them drool out their chiny chin chins. Baby be mine tonight, mine tonight, baby be mine tonight, yeah!” Seriously thinking about these words I thought, would I ever want any guy talking about me this way? Is this something really endearing that they are saying or are they just making me into an object? About six months ago my parents gave me a purity ring. Every time I look down at my left ring finger I am reminded just how much Jesus loves me and that my soul and yes, my body, belongs to Him. Ever since then I have been thinking about what I would like in a guy, or rather, in a husband. Back when I loved 1D, I would dream about dating one of the five guys in the band, and I was thinking about that again just a few days ago. My mind then went to one of my favorite movie trilogies, The Lord Of The Rings! I hope all of you have seen it :) Anyway, in this trilogy there is a guy named Aragorn. For those who have not seen the movies, Aragorn is just an ordinary ranger, but also the future king of Gondor, the empire of men. Yet Aragorn is hesitant to be the king because of the the mistakes and the wrong choices his forefathers had made. He is afraid of misleading his people and fears he cannot lead them like he should. Yet through the story he realizes that he must embrace his sword and lead his people. Aragorn is the kind of guy that I want to marry! He is strong, humble, handsome, valiant, and willing to lay down his life for anyone who might need it. There is a line in the first movie when the fellowship is first being formed when Aragorn comes up to Frodo and says “By my life or death I will protect you! I will. You have my sword.” Although Aragorn does not say this to Frodo out of romantic love, he says it out of brotherly love. There has always been a beauty in the virtues that Aragorn possesses which I have been drawn to and this line just melts my heart! Now you might say that this is the way you feel about 1D. Just think about it this way, love is about sacrifice. Sadly, when I listen to their music, I don't hear a lot of that coming from the 1D side of the table! Now I will tell you why I love Aragorn so much. It is because he is the character that depicts Jesus. Jesus is so strong, He carried that cross all the way up Calvary for you! He is so humble, He took the shame of hanging naked on the cross for you! He is so valiant, He took all of the blows and scourges for you! He was willing to lay down His life for you and for me so that we can have eternal life with Him! There, Jesus just fulfilled my list for what I want in a husband. What I am trying to say here is please, do not settle for someone who just wants you for a night, because it is not worth it! I have found now, as I try to live my life as a Christian Catholic teenage girl, living a pure and chaste life can be really hard. And I know that I can't do this on my own. When I catch myself being caught up in all the 1D stuff, with all of the “Up All Nights” that lead to the “Take Me Homes” that make “Midnight Memories” that all make me feel worthless, all I have to do is look at the crucifix hanging on my wall, and I know that I am worth more then gold! I then turn off the CD player, and spend some time with my real true love. My sisters in Christ, I urge you to do this! He is the provider of true love! He is your night in shining armor, your superman who fights for you everyday, and you, are the crown of His heart!
